Guess if I want fish and chips I will need to go 2 miles down the road to St Croix Snack Shack across from Pratt Chevrolet. Not a sit down place but at least they serve a good product at a fair price AND know the meaning of consistency!!

Totally unacceptable, Karen!!

Did not live up to it's reviews I read before going. Just a run of the mill food place. Ate breakfast there and wasn't to thrilled, hard to mess up breakfast but they did. Should have went to McDonald's.

Great food. Huge portions. Sweet and friendly waitress.

Normally, I'm very careful to always photograph my food for purposes of writing reviews. Unfortunately, I failed to do do during my visit 2 weeks ago, and since I failed to do so, didn't bother today (since I really needed the photos for comparison purposes)

A very good, inexpensive breakfast in a down home, comfortable place. Homemade rye bread and biscuits.

Prices are very reasonable, and I would definitely recommend Karen's for great food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Today, I again dined at Karen's. Once again, it was during happy hour. This time Karen wasn't working. I was hoping for left overs so this time I ordered the 2 item seafood platter for $16.95. That broke down to $11.95 for the fish and chips portion and another $5 for the scallops. I also had another Karen's brew. When the order arrived, I thought there had been a mistake because mine looked like a child's meal. This is where I start kicking myself for not having comparison photos. This meal was served with a single layer--one deep--of greasy fries that didn't even cover the entire plate. It was topped with only 2 pieces of fish measuring approximately 1-3/4" x 4", and 4 lone scallops. That means each scallop cost me $1.25. Had the fries and fish portion not been reduced by over 50%, I probably would have let it slide. Talk about zero consistency!! Is this what happens when Karen isn't in? Not only that but when my bill came, I was charged $1 more for the same beer I had ordered 2 weeks before (again, happy hour price...and Karen had not changed her menu prices)

On my first visit, Karen, the owner was working. I had fish and chips for $11.95, as well as Karen's brew for $2.50 (happy hour 4-6). The dinner was excellent. A large pile of fries topped with almost more fish than I could eat. Tasty, and an excellent value. I thought I had finally found a place in the local area that knew how to serve fish (as opposed to the nasty burnt fish passed off as "edible" by Robert Patterson at New Friendly).

Nice spot right on Main Street in Calais, and a great place to stop when traveling across the border from US to Canada. We have been here a few times for lunch, and it is a casual place with a good variety on the menu as well, and I really liked that they serve breakfast all day. Service is very quick and friendly, even though it was rather crowded when we were there. The omelets are excellent, and the Fish sandwich was outstanding as well.
